A new car warranty for a Volkswagen can cover the cost of most mechanical issues during the first four years or 50,000. However, many drivers like to opt for extended coverage from their VW dealer to reduce repair costs far into the future. When you get an extended warranty on your 2023 Volkswagen Atlas, what benefits can you expect?

What’s Included in an Extended Warranty From Volkswagen?

An extended protection plan from Volkswagen, also known as a Drive Easy Protection Plan, is built off the back of the factory warranty attached to a new car. Extended coverage will usually last for 10 years or up to 120,000 miles, although some plans may only last for seven years or up to 100,000 depending on which plan you opt for. There are three plans you will need to consider.

Powertrain

This extended protection plan specifically extends the coverage of your powertrain and associated central components. This means that your engine, transmission, drive axle, and hybrid or electric engine are all covered under this warranty if there are any defects that need to be corrected.

Gold

The Gold plan is a happy mixture of the Powertrain and Platinum plans, which means it’s ideal for drivers who want coverage for other essential systems. Along with coverage for everything under the Powertrain plan, the Gold plan also covers the front and rear suspension, fuel system, electrical system, climate control, and shocks.

Platinum

The Platinum plan is the most robust protection plan available and essentially covers every system in your vehicle. In addition to systems protected under the Gold plan, the Platinum plan will also cover the steering system, brakes, navigation system, audio system, and high-tech components such as a sunroof or moonroof.

Ask Your VW Dealer: Are There Other Warranty Benefits?

Aside from paying less when it’s time for repairs, there are several other benefits when you opt into a protection plan. While your coverage is still active, you will have 24/7 roadside assistance, which includes flat tire assistance, battery service, fuel deliveries, and lock-out assistance. Drivers can also benefit from towing reimbursements to have a VW towed to the nearest dealer.

Rental car reimbursement is another notable benefit. With this benefit, drivers will be reimbursed up to $35 a day for as long as 10 days while a VW is being repaired after a breakdown. For drivers who are traveling and experience a car breakdown at least 100 miles away from home, trip interruption coverage will reimburse drivers up to $200 a day for five days.

If you’re concerned about paying the cost of mechanical defects after your factory warranty runs out, extending your warranty coverage with a VW protection plan is a good idea. To learn more about signing up for a protection plan, get in touch with Tom Bush Volkswagen in Jacksonville, FL.
