Volkswagen Car-Net Guide: How to Use VW Car-Net to Stay Connected
VW Car-Net services are available for most of the recent VW models as long as drivers download a myVW app and sign up with a myVW account. With Car-Net, you can customize your level of connectivity with subscriptions for Wi-Fi access, emergency vehicle services, and much more. All of your subscriptions and vehicle services can be managed through your myVW app on your smartphone. There are three Car-Net plans to choose from.
Car-Net Safe & Secure
Car-Net users get a complimentary subscription to Safe & Secure services for five years. This connectivity plan is centered on emergency vehicle assistance, such as an in-cabin SOS button that can summon emergency responders after an accident. The Automatic Crash Notification system can connect drivers to an operator to direct first responders. This connected service even has tools to find a stolen vehicle.
Car-Net Wi-Fi Hotspot
If seamless streaming on the go is your priority, you can stay connected with the Car-Net Wi-Fi Hotspot. This 4G LTE connection is compatible with Verizon and T-Mobile data plans and can keep tablets, smartphones, and other devices connected while you’re on the road.
Car-Net Remote Access
Remote Access services include remote engine start or stop, remote door lock or unlock, remote honking, and remote light control. Whether you subscribe to one or all three Car-Net connected services, you can customize your connectivity options with Plus plans. Plus Online Radio is compatible with the Car-Net Wi-Fi Hotspot service and gives you access to thousands of internet radio channels. Plus Speech allows drivers to control key vehicle functions, such as asking for directions or changing playlists, while keeping their hands on the wheel.
The Plus Nav plan integrates the infotainment system with online navigation tools, such as real-time traffic and route updates. This subscription can keep you up to date on current weather conditions and helps you locate key pit stops, like charging stations, gas stations, and more.
