Performance
The base S trim comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers up to 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. All other trims feature a standard 3.6-liter, six-cylinder engine that provides up to 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The six-cylinder powertrain enables the Atlas to tow up to 5,000 pounds. The Atlas comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive. All-wheel-drive is available on V-6 models.
Exterior
Smooth curves, sharp lines, and sculpted areas give the new Atlas models a more modern, sporty appearance. The front-end boasts a large central grille flanked by the headlights that slightly curve upward. The grille is matched by the large lower engine vent.
Interior
Three rows of seats accommodate up to seven passengers. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to carry personal items. Fold down the third-row seats for up to 77.8-cubic-feet of cargo space. The storage increases even further when folding down the second-row and passenger front seats. A wireless charging station is optional.
The S models have LED lighting, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system that includes smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also dual-zone climate control and fabric upholstery. The SE adds more speakers to the sound system and has an eight-inch touchscreen. The driver's seat features powered adjustments, and both front seats contain heating technology. The upholstery is vinyl, and the steering wheel is leather-wrapped. The model also has three climate control zones. The SE with Technology trim includes a hands-free powered tailgate, adaptive cruise control, and remote ignition.
SEL models feature a virtual cockpit digital instrument panel plus a heated steering wheel. The infotainment system includes navigation capabilities. All of the passengers benefit from the panoramic sunroof. The SEL Premium level includes heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, four additional speakers, and an upgraded stereo system. The SUV also boasts ambient lighting, a 360-degree view camera, leather upholstery, automatic high beam headlights, and self-parking.
The R-Line package for SE with Technology and SEL trims adds 20-inch wheels, and unique sporty interior and exterior style enhancements.
Safety
Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, which helps prevent or mitigate the severity of a front-end collision should the driver not promptly respond to the collision warning systems. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert systems are also standard equipment. Available driver-assistance technologies include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, a 360-degree surround-view parking camera, and an automated park assist system.
